For the second year in a row, our entire Perch BCBA team attended the California Association for Behavior Analysis conference! This year, the conference was held in Long Beach, California in early March.
Hot topics this year: compassionate care, consent, and, of course, school-based ABA. My personal favorite was Dr. Denise Ross’ Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion presentation: Brilliant Children, Broken Systems - Reframing the Narrative of African American Children’s Literacy. Dr. Ross’ address was one of the most impactful statements on literacy and learning I have ever heard and one that I will forever carry in my daily practice as an educator, service provider, and advocate.
Another highlight: our newest BCBA Gabrielle Gersten joined the fun! It was incredible to have her a part of the experience as we all soaked up CEUs by day and decompressed by night. Some of our more adventurous BCBAs stayed after the conference for a trip to Disneyland (a first in her adult-life for Sheena!)
